Ocean Side Maternity Portraits

On this lovely April fools day, let’s take a peek inside one of my favorite maternity sessions from this past season. I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Alyssa & Damien’s completely adorable little man at the beginning of the year- but before you get to see that whole gallery, lets take a peek inside their oh so glow-y, oh so gorgeously romantic maternity portraits by the sea.

The sheer luck of living in the Boston area gives me endless amounts of inspiration. The long winding paths to the ocean, the ability to find desolate spots on the beach, these are all things I love so much about where I live. The beach was near empty this evening and uncharacteristically warm for the fall date we chose, which are always things that makes this photographers heart full. Warm weather, and not a ton of people I need to remove from the beach = win. This past week I had the absolute pleasure of trying Reki for the first time- which 10/10 recommend. Sara provided such a wonderful experience, and as we chatted afterwards and I received my feedback, one of the wonderful things she pointed out to me is that my creative brain is always churning. Everywhere I go I am mapping out locations, searching for beautiful spots of land that are remote and safely hidden from gazing eyes. My location’s are spots where I drove around while my oldest baby didn’t sleep, beginning to build my business by just aimlessly wandering. I get a lot of questions about where I shoot, and my response is always- find your way. Get outside and find inspiration. There is no one size fits all to art. Scenery that inspires me will not inspire the next person.

Also I need to like, maybe shut my brain down sometimes and just be outside haha. That was also some good reiki feedback.

Regardless, this session brought me so much joy. The glow of the evening sun as we wandered off the beach was just chefs kiss perfection. I often will tell clients that we will drive in a direction, and if I pull over just roll with it. The amount of magic in the sunset that I have created on little shitty areas on the side of the road would make anyone giggle. I am sure so many of you all have pulled over and wondered what the actual f is this woman doing. It usually pays off, no one has ended up falling into the water and I have yet to be hit by a car (although I did have a close call once or twice, ha.)

Enjoy the rest of this magical evening by the sea. xo am
