Newburyport Family Portraits

with a dash of tiny little baby bump on the side

We are kicking off the new year with some gorgeousness over here from one of my favorite months of each year- September. There is just something about September. The weather is still deliciously warm, the tourists have fled the Newburyport area, the beaches are calm and quiet and barely touched. Really just a trifecta of magic for this photographer right here.

One of the first questions I ask right off the bat during any inquiry is “do you have weekday availability?” This is less due to weekend conflicts in my own family but more because weeknights are quiet. There are so many more of them, and if we plan things out correctly we will end up at one of my favorite spots on the beach totally and completely alone. The beauty of New England is how many gorgeous ocean front spots there are. And so many of these spots I get to call an office. I know my beaches like the back of my hand. I know when the tides are low, which beaches lose light quickly at sunset, and which ones are full of horrible green heads (and when those seasons end.) Part of booking me for your family portrait session is knowing that I have endless ideas and endless amounts of knowledge behind each location I work at. How many of you have pulled to the side of some random road while at a shoot with me? (The answer is definitely hovering around 80%) Ha.

This evening was so quiet and beautiful, with no rush to be anywhere or go anywhere- we took our time and just enjoyed the sunset in Newburyport. Recently I joined the Newburyport chapter of Women’s Business League, which is so wild and different from anything I have ever done before. I am less of a networker and more of a person who wishes they networked more, ha. Part of each meeting is giving your elevator pitch- something I have never done or thought of. Why hire me, why work with me, who am I? I have found bits and pieces of what I want to say- but feel that they are better described by showing galleries.

I am Amanda Merrifield, owner of A Little Heart Photography. I love color and light. I want your portraits to feel like they’re breathing, that you can see the movement and the love in each snap shot. I want the wind to move you along, for no one to feel rushed, and everyone at some point during the session forget that I am even there.

This session is magic.
