Sunset in Marshfield, Massachussetts

a gorgeous fall evening for engagement pictures at the family homestead

With a property like this, why would you take engagement pictures anywhere else? Marshfield is a gorgeous seaside town on the south shore full of gorgeous beaches and waterways heading to the ocean. Whenever a couple has a specific idea or location for their portraits I get so excited. It usually means that not only has a lot of time has been spent thinking about their vision but also usually the backdrop is a complete stunner. This backdrop is no exception, as you can see.

So, let’s get arty for a second. I am always looking for different textures in my locations. Part of the composition for my portraits is looking at the backdrop and seeing how my subject (aka the couple) will stand out against the natural backdrop of wherever we are. Now, this is some real nerd art ish- BUT I am telling you. The first few pictures below of the view of the yard are so gorgeous. The evening glow hitting off of the different plants and trees with the river in the background is so beautiful. If you notice-none of the couples pictures were taken in those spots because its quite literally too much texture. Your eyes would hurt looking at those photos because it would just be so super busy. Texture overload.

I absolutely adore the landscape of the South Shore. Being a North Shore baby, there is just something ever so slightly different about the beaches and the marsh south of Boston. A few more rocks at the beaches, a lot more marsh inlets. The landscape isn’t completely different-but I can pick out a South Shore picture from a North Shore picture any day. Regardless- how lucky do I feel to be welcomed into peoples homes and celebrate their love? THE MOST LUCKY.

Ok, now swoon over these pictures please.
