January chaos…
and a perfect fall engagement session.
Anyone ever just get so overwhelmed with all the things you have to do, then get completely stuck on one tiny little task for way too long? Or is that just my ADD issues? I have been desperately trying to migrate my old blog over here, which just completely pulls away from the fact that I have SO MUCH CONTENT to share and should be just starting with some new things. January is usually a good slow down month over here, where I update pricing, update content, and plan out some of the bigger moments I will have during the year. This year is a little different as I have lots and lots of sweet little babies being born, which is so exciting as newborn sessions fill my baby loving void. But- we will talk more about that on another blog!
I had the privilege of photographing Nick and Laura’s proposal, so when they looped back for these engagement portraits I was sooo excited. Our location was so perfect. Classic fall in New England, with beautiful foliage and a setting sun. I love when couples bring their pups for portrait sessions, and I might be kind of obsessed with their pup Rico as he is a cute little Chihuahua full of that Chihuahua fire.
One of the questions I get asked most when couples book with me (aside from what the heck do we wear) is how can we incorporate our cute yet maybe a little chaotic fur baby into our portraits. Firstly, location! We obviously need to choose a pet friendly place but also maybe a location that is not also full of pets. My own dog Smalls loves other dogs, but if he sees one he’s going to go mental trying to go play. Having some space for us to move around with you furry bud is important, but also being in a location where its not a dog party is also huge. North of Boston there is no shortage of parks and green spaces that have land and privacy. Secondly, having a person come and meet you and relieve the dog from his dog portrait session can also be hugely helpful for those that hate being stuck in a car for a while. Dog grandparents can come in helpful, and incorporating your fury bestie in to some portraits is great- but having some time for just the two of you without wrangling a pup is important too.
If you’re lucky enough to live in the Boston area, even New England, you know that Fall is beautiful and way too fast. This fall was full of the most stunning pops of foliage, the most gorgeous weddings, and some of my favorite family and couple portraits of all time. I can’t wait to share more with everyone and now that I am putting this in writing, I will be blogging way more often. If I don’t, please feel free to remind me! Ha.
Enjoy the rest of these gorgeous fall engagement portraits!
