Amesbury Studio Maternity Pictures

aka- what do we do when it’s cold out? Why we go indoors of course!

A little winter inspiration to coincide with winter mini session release dates! Woo! There is something so gorgeous and perfect about a studio maternity session when the outside is full of gray on gray on gray. Not to mention, like 9 degrees out. When the gorgeous mama to be Emily reached out for maternity sessions with a very specific idea in mind I was so excited to make her ideas pop into life. I love when people roll in with a specific aesthetic. From set up to editing, it makes me super excited to push myself and try something slightly different. As any of you who follow along know, I am more of an outdoors in nature kind of gal. I want everyone to move around and shake out the weirds a bit. The challenge in my brain was to make these stand out and pop but in that minimalist still life kind of vibe.

Not to toot my own horn but um… I think we nailed it.

Sometimes the beauty of simplicity just shines. I had dragged all of this lighting and my lighting stands into the studio that day thinking I was going to go for more of that dramatic flash kind of vibe. But angling to use the natural light in the studio space was just enough to illuminate Emily in front of the backdrop. Classic and timeless maternity portrait? Check that box!

A big shout out to the Ames Studio in Amesbury, MA who is chock full of backdrops, pieces of furniture, and of course- a fan!
